Dyslexia assessments for adults & students

If you are finding aspects of reading, writing, organisation or processing information difficult, an assessment can help you understand your learning profile and why some things may feel harder than they should.

I provide friendly, thorough diagnostic assessments for adults and students, giving you a clear picture of your individual strengths and difficulties, whether dyslexia is present, and practical recommendations for study, work and everyday life.

Assessments are carried out remotely via Microsoft Teams.

What does the assessment involve?
The assessment usually takes around three hours, with breaks as needed. We work through a range of tasks exploring areas including:

• verbal and visual reasoning
• working memory
• phonological processing
• reading
• spelling
• writing

The assessment is designed to build a detailed picture of your learning profile, including both your strengths and areas where you may benefit from additional support.

Optional ADHD and DCD screening
For adults aged 18+, I can also offer screening for characteristics associated with ADHD and/or Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD/dyspraxia). Where appropriate, findings can be included within your report and onward referral recommended.

Before the assessment
You’ll receive a booking pack and questionnaire to gather relevant background information. This forms an important part of the assessment and helps me understand your experiences alongside the assessment findings.

What you’ll need
As the assessment takes place remotely via Microsoft Teams, you’ll need:

• a laptop or desktop computer, or a large tablet
• a webcam and keyboard
• a stable internet connection
• a quiet space to work

A phone or small tablet isn’t suitable for the assessment.

After the assessment
You’ll receive a detailed written report approximately 15 working days after the assessment. This will explain the findings clearly, confirm whether you meet the criteria for dyslexia where appropriate, highlight your individual strengths and areas of difficulty, and provide practical recommendations relevant to you.
