In-person Dyslexia Assessments

Dyslexia assessments carried out at your home if you live within a 40-minute drive of Frome, Somerset. This includes parts of Somerset, Bath, Bristol, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire. I also have access to a nearby meeting room if you are happy to travel this way.

For individuals aged 8-18 years old.

The full assessment usually takes around 3 hours to complete (including breaks) and involves a series of tasks to measure:

-  Underlying verbal & visual ability

-  Working memory

-  Phonological processing

-  Current reading, spelling and writing level

Any other observations e.g. difficulties with attention, will be included in the report and onward referral recommended if necessary.

Before the assessment

You will be sent a booking pack and two questionnaires for completion (one for parents/carers and one for school). This is a way of gathering background information to support the findings from the assessment and is an essential part of the process. It helps me to build up a complete picture of the individual.

Day of the assessment

We will need a table to work at and to be somewhere quiet where we won’t be disturbed. The individual will need writing equipment, anything they need for reading (glasses, overlay etc) and anything that might help with concentration (e.g. fiddle toys, snacks, drink).

Following the assessment

A detailed written report will be emailed to you around 15 working days after the assessment. It will include confirmation of diagnosis (if applicable) with supporting evidence, the individual’s areas of strength and weakness and the appropriate recommendations.

Payment

The assessment costs £500 and this is split into a non-refundable deposit of £100 to confirm the booking and the remainder of £400 which is due 7 days before the day of assessment.
